Chubby Snowman Card and Lovable Animals Valentine's Card

Image
Happy watercolor weekend! For my first card, I stitched a snowflake while visiting my family during Christmas. When I got home, I decided I needed a cute little snowman and some smaller snowflakes to complement it. The Chubby Snowman Set (5351) and the Snowflake Frame Set (5782) were perfect choices. I painted the snowman using Tombow markers in the following colors: 312, 565, 969, 879, 977, 850, 025, 526, 933, 856, N55, and N75. I selected the Winter Woodland collection for the paper used inside and outside the card. I die-cut the snowflakes from silver foil and blue paper. I included sentiments from the Christmas Sentiments Set (5566) inside the card. To add more detail, I incorporated additional snowflakes and a decorative edge to the Winter Woodland paper pack. For the final touch, I used Dr. Ph. Martin's Bleed Proof White to add highlights to the snowman. --- For my second card, I wanted to create a cute animal-themed Valentine's card. The Lovable Animals stamp set with di...

A Vintage Christmas Ornament by Jami

Image
I’m so happy to be back making cards! It feels like it’s been forever since I had the opportunity to create one.  I drew inspiration from creative people on the internet who use metal cookie cutters as outlines to make quick Christmas cards. While my card wasn’t quick, I enjoyed every minute of the process! To begin, I lightly outlined the cookie cutter shape with a pencil on watercolor paper.  Then, I stamped my image inside the ornament with a waterproof black stamp pad. At first, I wasn't sure where I wanted to take the card, so I started by painting the images from the Mini Christmas Village Set.  I made a mask using computer paper to act as a stencil for sponging the edges of the ornament.  I have included a photo below. Next, I painted freehand details on the ornament using metallic watercolor paints.  I used the Watercolor Mini Wreath Set and the Watercolor Branches Set to paint in pine branches for the greenery.  I also used Dr. Ph Martin's w...

Scarecrow with Sunflowers and Floral Container

Image
Good morning!  I love Watercolor Weekends.  This weekend I have a scarecrow with sunflowers and a wash basin full of flowers for you. For the scarecrow card, I used the following stamps and dies:  5594 - Harvest Scarecrow, 4051 - Foliage Set, 5059 - WC Harvest Set, and 5724 - Nested Rectangle Dies. The Tombow markers used are the following: 026, 228, 177, 565, 969, 856, 933, 947, 977, 992, 526, 312 and 879 This little scarecrow always makes me smile whenever I see it .   I wanted to create a card that looked like a scarecrow in a field of wild sunflowers. First, I stamped the scarecrow using markers 565 and 969. After painting the scarecrow, I used a stamp positioner to line up the milk container below. I made masks for the container and the sunflowers to stamp a few layers of the sunflowers. While making the card, I decided the scarecrow needed yellow hay sticking out to look real. The grass/wheat stamp from the 5059 - WC Harvest set was perfect ...

Halloween Potting Garden Shed and Slimline Cards by Jami Steiger

Halloween Potting Garden Shed and Slimline Card by Jami Steiger Happy Watercolor Weekend!   My goodness, how time flies these days!  I know we are MONTHS away from Halloween but I was so inspired by Kim painting the Potting Garden Shed in a fall design that I wanted to paint one in soft fall colors and then I wanted to paint a Halloween Potting Garden Shed.  Well, I painted three!  I couldn't decide what color scheme I wanted to go with so I kept experimenting with colors and by the time I had all three completed I liked them all!  I had my family vote on the one they liked the best and the first card was voted number one.  I used the following stamp sets and dies to create all of the "Hello Fall" cards except the original fall card which is posted at the bottom of the Halloween cards.  5817 - Potting Garden Shed, 5487 - Front Porch Halloween (tree), 5601 - Halloween Accessories (ghosts and spiders), 5059 - WC Harvest (pumpkin and wheat grass), 50...

My Trust Set and Fall Harvest Cards

Image
Hello Watercolor Weekend Friends!  I hope everyone is enjoying the long, hot summer days.  It has been beautiful here in Ohio but rather hot for me and I am ready for fall to arrive as you will see in my second card. For my first card I received the beautiful 5937 - Bible Journaling My Trust Set, and when I saw the stamp set I knew immediately that I wanted to try and make an oval card using a technique that Bonnie demonstrated about a year ago using fall pumpkins.  I started by first drawing an oval in pencil on my watercolor paper to use as my outline.  I stamped 5 roses and painted them using Tombow 761, 772 and 817 markers.  To cover the painted roses I stamped the images on masking paper and fussy cut them.  Next after covering the painted roses with the masks I used various stamps from the same set to add the foliage and blue flowers.  The final addition was the beautiful blue bird.  I painted the bird using Tombow 401, 526, 947, and ...

Nature Cards

Image
Good morning Ai Friends!   For the cards this month I was inspired by the beautiful weather we are having here in Ohio.  Although, it's pretty hot!  All of the flowers and trees look so full and gorgeous that I created the two following nature cards.  For my sheep card I masked off the watercolor paper to 3x3.  It is amazing what you can stamp and paint within this size.  I  used the following stamps for this project:  5378 - WC Stone Creek Scene, 5070 - Good Shepard, 5009 - WC Mini Flowers, 5008 - WC Flower Set 3, 4051 - Foliage, 5372 - WC Mini Foliage, and 5476 - WC Foliage Set 5.  I stamped the stone creek scene first using markers 565 and 969.  I stamped off twice with all of the images.  The sheep were stamped next and I painted in all of the details except for the bottom flowers and the sky.  Masking off the sheep and the mountains, I then stamped in the flowers and painted the sky.  When the painting was...

French Door and Big Birthday Wishes

Image
Hi Watercolor Friends!  I hope everyone is having a nice weekend.  I am loving this spring weather.  It makes me dream of going to Paris, France.  I love the vintage French doors.  Those doors are what inspired my first card.  I enjoyed figuring out my layout.  There was a lot of masking done using Post-it Tape and Post-it Notes.  I stamped the bicycle first and then the blue door.  I used Tombow 403 to paint the door.  It's my new favorite color!  Next I stamped the pot with Tombow 565 and 969 stamping off twice first.  I did all of the stamping for this card using this method.  Next I added the wall texture and the cobblestones.  After I had painted all of the foliage and flowers I added in a quiet, gray kitten using the WC Mini Critter Set 5016.  For the decorative element on the door windows I used a stamp from set 5123 WC Decorative Jar set.  I have to be honest, I thought this was pretty clever!...
