Nature Cards

Image
Good morning Ai Friends!   For the cards this month I was inspired by the beautiful weather we are having here in Ohio.  Although, it's pretty hot!  All of the flowers and trees look so full and gorgeous that I created the two following nature cards.  For my sheep card I masked off the watercolor paper to 3x3.  It is amazing what you can stamp and paint within this size.  I  used the following stamps for this project:  5378 - WC Stone Creek Scene, 5070 - Good Shepard, 5009 - WC Mini Flowers, 5008 - WC Flower Set 3, 4051 - Foliage, 5372 - WC Mini Foliage, and 5476 - WC Foliage Set 5.  I stamped the stone creek scene first using markers 565 and 969.  I stamped off twice with all of the images.  The sheep were stamped next and I painted in all of the details except for the bottom flowers and the sky.  Masking off the sheep and the mountains, I then stamped in the flowers and painted the sky.  When the painting was...

French Door and Big Birthday Wishes

Image
Hi Watercolor Friends!  I hope everyone is having a nice weekend.  I am loving this spring weather.  It makes me dream of going to Paris, France.  I love the vintage French doors.  Those doors are what inspired my first card.  I enjoyed figuring out my layout.  There was a lot of masking done using Post-it Tape and Post-it Notes.  I stamped the bicycle first and then the blue door.  I used Tombow 403 to paint the door.  It's my new favorite color!  Next I stamped the pot with Tombow 565 and 969 stamping off twice first.  I did all of the stamping for this card using this method.  Next I added the wall texture and the cobblestones.  After I had painted all of the foliage and flowers I added in a quiet, gray kitten using the WC Mini Critter Set 5016.  For the decorative element on the door windows I used a stamp from set 5123 WC Decorative Jar set.  I have to be honest, I thought this was pretty clever!...

Happy Watercolor weekend!   This weekend I have 2 cards that would be perfect for a child's birthday.  My grandson turned one year old last month and I had him on my mind as I created these 2 cards. I used one stamp set, #5400 Baby Critters and one paper pack, #5873 Mini Birthday for both cards.  I challenged myself to use different patterns from the paper pack to layer and add dimension.  I had a lot of fun using dies and a paper punch to punch out the circles and add details.  For each of the cards I started by stamping all of the images on watercolor paper and then painting the images with the following Tombow markers: 312, 879, N55, N45, N35, 772, 603, 401, 569, 526, 026, 817, 177, 977 and 969.  Then the images were die cut using the matching dies from the stamp set and these critters are so cute!  When I assembled these cards I used decorative dies from my supplies.  On the giraffe card I popped up the bird using dimension dots to give m...

Watercolor Weekend March 24, 2024

Watercolor Weekend with Jami Steiger Good morning Watercolor Weekend Friends!   Spring time is my favorite time of the year.  The colors of spring are definitely the colors I love most, especially pink and teal.  For my first card I really enjoyed painting and adding in many details to make the 5432 WC Foundations Chairs look ready for spring with some darling animals from 5116 Basket of Blessings. This card looks simple but was honestly a little challenging because I had to mask off quite a few things in order to add the eggs, chick, bow and rabbit.  I love how it turned out.  To start  this card I stamped the chairs first being careful not to color the stamp where the chick and rabbit would be sitting.  Then I made masks for all of the pots and bowl using the Post-it cover-up tape.  There were some places on the chair stamp that I had to draw in with a pencil such as the back of the blue chair and the legs on the pink chair.  The beaut...

Hello Ai friends!  Today I have 2 cards to share.  It has been cold, dark and dreary for a long time here in Ohio so when I made these cards my mind was moving towards the up coming spring season.  I love spring colors as you will see in the cards I created for this weekend. For the first card I heat embossed the roses on the pink card base using a Versamark ink pad and clear embossing powder.  For the background paper I created my own using the same rose and leaves stamp from 5831 WC Rose Set and a branch from 4964 WC Branches.  The circle cutout was done with the chickadee from 5419 Bible Icons.  All of these stamped pictures were painted using the following Tombow Markers #569, 969, N55, N25, 177, 977, 772 and 723.  I added some berries to the branch that the chickadee is standing on from 5130 On the Sparrow.  The dies used in the making of this card were the following: 5726 Nested Circle Dies, the lattice detail from 5805 Mini Journal Box and ...

Watercolor Weekend January 28, 2024 Hello everyone!  I hope everyone is having a great weekend.   For my first card I wanted to make a Valentine card using the Ai set #5455 Birthday Buggy Set.  I love vintage VW Bug cars so I painted the car using Tombow marker #312 because that would be my dream color.  The balloons were each painted using Tombow marker #835, 817 and 772.  It is hard to see in the photo but I also added Wink of Stella in clear for a pretty shimmer.   For the red balloon I popped it up for added dimension. The heart balloons also came from set #5455.  I added the mouse from set #5425 WC Peeking Animals.  I wanted to add some more heart elements to the design so the heart garland was used from set #5493 Front Porch Valentine Set.  It is always fun to look at your stamp sets and dies to see if an element can be used to add interesting detail and texture to your card designs. The final touch was adding some flowers fro...

Watercolor Weekend: 12/10

Hello Ai fans!  This Christmas card is one that I absolutely enjoyed creating.  I love all things vintage and Christmas is no exception.  I love the colors of Christmas in the 1950’s.  The pink, teal, red and green with some glitter added is my favorite.  For this card I started with stamping the Snowman Scenic Foundations #5818 with the 565 blue and 969 brown Tombow markers.  I stamped off twice.  I used the following markers to paint the image.  Blue 565, Brown 969, Red 856, Bluish Green 312, Pink 761, Pink 817, Green 158, Green 296, Gray N65, Gray N45, and Gray 25.  After I had done all of my painting I added some rainbow sparkle glitter to Nuvo Crystal Drops in clear to paint glitter onto the top of the door, the window shutters, the windows on the top floor and the lamp posts.  This was an easy way to add the glitter without it falling off and to give a light shimmer.  When I added Dr. Ph. Martin’s Bleed Proof White for the sno...
