Spring Bee Cards by Jami Steiger

Image
Welcome, Watercolor Weekend friends! We have had so much snow here in Ohio that I am thinking of bees and spring flowers. The same stamp set, 5925-Honey Bee, was used to create the next two cards. For the flying bees card, I started by punching out 1-inch hexagons from the 6012-Basic Yellow Paper pack and a "bee" paper pack I had on hand. I used a round paper punch to cut out the leaves for the flower. Next, I stamped the adorable bees onto watercolor paper using an Archival Ground Espresso stamp pad. I painted the bees with the following Tombow markers: N25, N45, N55, N65, 772, 025, 933, and 993. Next, I die-cut the bees using the coordinating dies in the stamp set. I hand-cut the "grass" for the bottom of the card, then glued down the paper pieces to make the flower. I stamped the sentiment onto yellow paper from the yellow paper pack and attached it to the card with foam dots. Before adding the bees, I stamped the honeycomb onto the gray paper with Versamark to g...

Valentine Cards by Jami Steiger

Good morning, Art Impressions friends! My goodness, this winter weather has been crazy! We are expecting a lot of snow tomorrow, and it will be the perfect day to stay inside and craft. I personally love days like that!  I made two Valentine's Day watercolor cards this month. I began by using Tombow markers 565 and 969 to stamp the gnome with the flowerpot from set 5785—Gnomes onto watercolor paper. I made a mask for the pot using a Post-it note, and then I stamped the greenery and flowers from set 6150—His Love. After painting those, I added grass from set 4051—WC Foliage and additional flowers from His Love set to the ground. I used Dr. Ph. Martin's Bleed Proof White to paint the heart on his red hat. I stamped a design from set 5123—WC Decorative Jar set—to add detail to the flowerpot. I began by cutting a piece of white cardstock to A2 size for the background. I then used a red pigment stamp pad to stamp the little hearts from set 6150—His Love Set—row by row. I then covere...

Woodland Horse and Holiday Shaker Cards by Jami Steiger

Time is passing quickly as the holidays draw near, and I have been enjoying the gingerbread craze, decorating with gingerbread houses. This inspired me to create a holiday gingerbread shaker snow globe card. I began by drawing a circle on watercolor paper and painting a gingerbread house from the Mini Christmas Village Set 5977. Unfortunately, this stamp set is no longer available, but I have included links at the bottom of the post to other available stamp sets, offering endless possibilities! After painting the gingerbread house, I added sequins, snowflakes, trees, and glitter.  I then added some foliage and a pink bow by hand using Winsor & Newton professional watercolor paint pans to give the snow globe a whimsical touch. On a different piece of watercolor paper, I painted the snow globe base before carefully cutting it out. Additionally, I used blue glitter paper to die-cut snowflakes from the 5791-WC Snow Globe Set. To cover the snow globe, you will need 5808 Shaker Domes...

Vintage Fall Truck and Halloween Slider Card by Jami Steiger

Friends of watercolor, good morning!  I've been busy making things.  I adore the fall season.  It's time to enjoy the fall leaves and all things pumpkin!   I have some fun cards this month. The first card is a fall card.  I love old vintage trucks, and I couldn't resist painting a soft, vintage fall scene. This is a simple card. I started by using Post-it Labeling & Cover-up Tape to create a 3x3-inch centered square. I began the layout by stamping the pumpkins, then used a stamp positioner to stamp the fence. I made a mask with a Post-it for the fence and then stamped the car. Now, the fun part begins. I stamped the flowers, foliage, and the sky. After removing the tape, I die-cut the images using the 5592 - Harvest Journal Die Set and adhered them to the card. For the final touch, I added a sentiment that pops up for added dimension.    Tombow markers used: 912, 177, 312, 623, 603, 565, N75, N55, 026, 933, 977, 817, 526, 401, and 947 ________...

Thankful for You and Vintage Christmas Village Cards by Jami Steiger

Hello, all watercolor friends! I'm happy to share my cards for this fall weekend. As usual, I have created holiday-themed cards. I hope you all enjoy. I began by stamping the squirrel on my first card, followed by the greenery above and below. After that, I painted him using the Tombow markers 526, 969, 565, N55, 761, 947, 679, 177, 942, 977, 027, 856, 098, 933, 946, and 025. The oval nesting dies were then used to die-cut the artwork. I found a few small gemstones and stuck some to the flowers and leaves. First, I made the card's base by stamping a large brown word stamp onto a piece of craft-colored cardstock. I then used a stencil to apply pearl white texture paste. While the paste was drying, I die-cut rectangles using the 5973-Fall Series 2 Paper Pack. I used foam squares to raise the squirrel after attaching all the parts to the card base. The sentiment was taken from the 5191-Feast Mode set and die-cut from the banner in the 5543-Journal Template Die Set. Finally, I embe...

Fall and Christmas Cards by Jami Steiger

Wow! I can't believe it is August already! I am ready for cool days and nights. I love the holidays and look forward to making cards and decorating my home. My first card has a fall theme. For this card, I started by stamping the bicycle from set 5186—Enjoy the Ride—and then created a mask for the bike to stamp the tree behind it. When I stamped the bike, I did not stamp the bow on top of the package so I could change the gift box into a basket and add a pumpkin. For the bow on the front of the bicycle, I used Winsor & Newton gold ink. I stamped a few pumpkins in the foreground to add depth. For final touches, I added a jute knot and popped up the sentiment from the same stamp set. I used paper from the 5973- Fall S2 paper pack. Tombow markers used:  452, 565, 837, 098, 977, N55, 312,  N35, 993, 946, 177, 992 ____________________ For my second card, I couldn't resist painting a vintage Christmas tree! I love the Christmas colors of the 1950s.  This was an easy ...
